and would not go faster.l would let off and punch again to see if l could get more out of it.Is it regulated at 135 mph or was l just topping out.l though 'redlining' would be rpms being in the red (6500-7000). Any thoughts?

yea ur were topped out most likely. It is a 320. But My 96 C280 does 135 to so l dunno for sure but l dont think so. l kno the 98 E55 AMG will do 155mph.

Most Mercedes-Benz Cars are Governed to top-out 155 m.p.h. The AMG series of Mercedes-Benz can go alot faster just depends on the model! Some can hit the 200 m.p.h. mark

To my knowledge all mercedes cars coming out of Germany are regulated at 155mph to satisfy the German governemnt, so all cars are regulated at 155mph. You can take the limiter off to achieve higher speeds if wanted. For your E320 you were maxing it out. Redlining is when your RPM goes into the Red section of the RPM, but you dont have to reach redline inorder to achieve top speed for some cars.

l do not know the answer to your question but from a similar exprience what l can tell is it was not your govenor or limiter getting activated but. the transmission and the drag which was limmiting you from going faster. also if any body has a better answer pm me look below

Yes, I've read on an ''official'' Mercedes forum that it is 155 mph.
By the way, my 2000 E320 goes 145 with no problem ( l have not tried to push it more.)
