There is an ad for a 95 Mercedes S600 coupe for sale and it states that it was involved in a theft where the computer modules where stolen. It does not run because of this. Does anyone know what they refer to?

It means the car has lost the engine computer,which makes the car run and operates,like us human has no brain.
l would stay away from it,it is not as simple as plug in another one will make it works,there is programming,codings..Worse yet,when thief steals these,they cut wiring harness,that is a huge problem,worse than getting the computer itself.

Oh yes, this thing has been on eBay quite some time. It is relisted over & over. It used to run, but now the radio & some 'modules' r missing & it doesn't. But it would be a great addition to ur collection.

Do not fall for this. The car has a salvage title & the seller has sold the ASR module & probably quite a few other high dollar parts & is now trying to pawn off a virtually worthless car on you, the unsuspecting eBayer.

That car is worth money to someone who needs it for parts. Due to its salvage title & condition, it is not likely is will ever be a properly valued daily driver. You r looking at serious money to repair it & l have asked several times if the wire looms were cut by the so-called thieves when the mystery 'modules' were removed. No answer.

Avoid all the sick V-12 MB units on eBay unless you're a real masochist & love money pits. But a 1997 or later S600 that runs & is happy. That has already had it is engine compartment wiring harness replaced, very important. They were prone to dry rot due to heat exposure & fail. A new or newer ASR does not hurt either. Happy motoring.
