l have a 1995 Mercedes E-320. It has a manual transmission. l did not know how often you're supposed to change (flush) the transmission. (My own fault.) I've noticed it was shifting a little harder lately, especially when braking and coming to a stop. Tonight, l felt like someone had hit me from behind! l realized it was the shifting as I'd come to a stop. Now, there is already a problem that l can not afford to fix which is that it wo not start without being in neutral. And, it idles high. The mechanic said it would be about $800 to repair but that l could drive it without trouble, so l have been. Would a transmission flush possibly cure this, or should l take it back to the Mercedes man for a check. l ask because the diagnostic alone is very expensive. Thanks!

better to bring it to benz, l mean you afforded the car should afford the service. that transmission thing happens when you do not fully depress the clutch before shifting. transmission usually needs to be changed after 80,000kms

You did not say how many miles u have on ur car.
An E-320 from before 2000 had a problem with transmission & it is very common to have this problem close to 100,000 miles (some cars developed this problem earlier, some later.)
Mercedes fixed it in 2000 & later models.
An $800 is not much to fix it, but make sure the guy knows what he is doing. Do not postpone fixing it, because it will cost u much more when the transmission fails completely. Flushing will not fix anything.
