a coupe is a 2 door hardtop and a cabriolet is a convertible of sorts. it has a removable roof

A coupe is a two door body either hard top (fixed head coupe) or convertable (drop head coupe). A cabriolet is now the same as a convertable coupe. In the '20 is and '30 is it was also used to describe a four door convertable.
