l was considering the purchase of a pre-owned mercedes sl55 amg, but just realized that l could get a pre-owned maserati quattroporte in similar condition for the same price.i know and have driven and love both cars (in different ways), so, on IMAGE alone, which will make me look cooler (for a 25 yo male in the very image conscious entertainment industry)? im bored of driving a boring range rover =)

l think you'd be better off with a 30 year old Jag or Alpha, probably more reliable than those two overpriced crapmobiles.

Go to ur local MB dealer, & check out the service department. Just chat with some of the owners, trust me, u will RUN away from MB. And as bad as Mercedes is, the Maserati can only be 10 times worst !

maserati is are so much cooler and much less common than mercedes. Go for the quattroporte.

DO NOT BUY THE MASERATI. my dad has the new SL 63 AMG and it is the sickest car ever. he used to have the 55 and was just as cool. 0-60 speed goes in like 4.5 secs. you will look one hundred times cooler. the quattroporte is too bulky and more of a old persons car. GET THE SL 55

Get the SL. The Maserati is for those who do not know better. Here is your chance to know better -- get the SL. It will last longer with fewer hassles and more places to take it for service since it will invariably need it.

Based solely on car image, I'd go for the Maserati as there are many more Benzes driving around. If you want image, standing out is a good first step.

However, you say you're a 25 y.o. male. A convertible roadster may be a more suiting image for an image-conscious young male as opposed to a 4-door sedan.

Maserati but you wont be happy with it in long term.. Probably SL55 is more reliable especially if you are getting a pre-owned car

My mom has a jeep as a main car, but has an 07 SLK55 AMG for her sporty car. LOVES it. Hard top convertible-very nice. My dad is business coworker is wife was thinking of getting a Maserati but apparently they r not being made very well & r falling apart *that is what they heard* & now she is considering getting a Mercedes..So..I'd suggest a Mercedes Benz, but u should also check out the new Audi R8 that is convertible coming out & l heard BMW *not my fave brand* has a nice new convertible out, too with fiberglass on the inside. Range Rovers r ugly but r a better everyday car than an SL55. Personally l like the body image of the SLK55 AMG better than the SL55, even though it is cheaper. You will like the AMG interior, though. Be careful of parking, because l scratched & cracked my mom is bumper..$1900 for paint & new bumper.not good!

If you're going to depend on the car as a daily driver u should get the Benz. Maserati is cool, but waiting 3 months for a repair part is not so cool. The Maserati nameplate may have style, but the SL55 is a more intelligent choice.
If you're into projecting an image u should consider getting a pre-owned SL65. It has the twin-turbo V12 that puts out 604 hp at 4,200 rpm & 738 ft/lbs of torque from 1,200 to 4,000 rpm, & the badges on the front fenders (V12 BiTurbo) will get people is attention!
