The dims dont work, and today the break lights stopped working all together, and when the car is in park, both the abs and the asr lights are on on the dashboard. Iv been told that it may be relays or switches (we put new bulbs in and checked the fuses), so my questions are: how hard is it to either A) put in new relay or switch? B) does each light that doesnt work-each dim and each brake light- need a new switch/relay (or does one switch effect both dims, etc.), and C)- if it is the wireing, how does the mechanic go about finding the problem? is it a hard job that will be expensive? were taking it to a local mechanic, so Im just curious. please help!

Not all Benz models are the same. It would help if you mentioned what year and model Mercedes you have.

The issues you have should be addressed by the dealer, not your ''local mechanic.'' You will probably save money in the long run by taking it to the nearest Mercedes dealer, or at least to a shop that specializes in repair of German cars.

First, u need to have an MB specialist look at ur car. You can go to a dealer (expensive !), but there r lots of reputable independent MB shops around.

Electrical problems r not easy to diagnose over the internet, l am afraid.

One thing to be aware of is that MB is do not like having different brand bulbs from side to side. For example, if u blow a brake light u should make sure that u install a bulb that is the same brand & model as the remaining working bulb. Same with headlight bulbs, turn signals, etc. Different brands draw slightly different amounts of current even when they r the same specs & MB is r sensitive to this.
